SAS QUEEN MODJADJI (S103) ARRIVAL

SAS QUEEN MODJADJI , South Africa's third Type 209 is on her maydon voyage back to Simon's Town, and is expected to arrive on 22 May 2008.

SAS QUEEN MODJADJI was launched in 2006, handed over to the SA Navy in Kiel on 31 January 2008 after successful sea trials. SAS QUEEN MODJADJI sailed from Kiel early in April under the command of Cdr Andrew Souma, and is expected in Rota 13 April 2008. SAS PROTEA will acompany S103 back to South Africa.

The submarine has a crew of 30. The hull has a length of 62m, breadth of 7.6m and height of 5.8m. Speed is 10kt surfaced and 22kt dived.
